Abstract | BACKGROUND: The correlation between gait (walking pattern) and posture in construction workers is important to occupational health and safety. Both gait and posture play crucial roles in preventing musculoskeletal injuries and Work-Related Injuries. Construction workers are often involved in physically demanding tasks that require proper body mechanics. Incorrect gait or posture may increase the risk of injuries, especially when lifting heavy objects, working in awkward positions, or performing repetitive movements AIM: The Study aims to determine the correlation between Gait and Posture in construction workers in a Rural Population. METHODOLOGY: This cross‑sectional observational study included a total 50 construction workers in a rural area aged 30 to 60 years who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria. All the construction workers were assessed for the correlation between gait and posture. They were working at the campus of Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences. (DU) Loni (MH) in India. RESULTS: Correlation in (the VAS) Visual Analogue Scale and (DGI) Dynamic Gait Index showed a significant Positive Correlation (R=0.3679). While the Correlation in (VAS) Visual Analogue Scale and (OWAS) Ovako Working Posture Analysis System also showed a Significant Positive Correlation (R=0.4156). CONCLUSION: The study found a significant correlation between the Dynamic Gait Index (DGI) and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), as well as between the Ovako Working Posture Analysis System (OWAS) and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) in construction workers. |
